James Suckling 90-91/100This is dry and a little chewy, with a medium body and a grainy texture to the tannins. It needs more concentration in the center-palate, yet shows structure and firmness.
Neal Martin Vinous 87-89/100
The 2023 Fourcas Hosten has a very ripe, verging on ostentatious bouquet that doesn't have the refinement of the Fourcas-Dupré by direct comparison—maybe just picked a day or two tardy? The palate is ripe, sweet and grippy, with plush black cherries and licorice notes. The forceful finish needs to forage more restraint by the time it’s in bottle. This will need a very prudent élevage.
Antonio Galloni Vinous 87-89
The 2023 Fourcas Hosten marries intense dark-fleshed fruit with savory aromatics and plenty of underlying structure. The Cabernet Sauvignon is especially present. It will be interesting to see whether the muscular tannins soften.
